April 14 Update for Families and Residents
A note to let all our friends and families know how life at Norgarden and Peninsula is progressing during these challenging times. The residents are being served all their meals in their suites. Our common areas are still open and lots of additional activities have been added that maintain physical distancing. We have also opened outside seating areas at both communities that offer strategically placed chairs with explicit instructions for use. Please abide by the instructions and sit in the designated seats without moving the furniture around. The staff maintain a cleaning regime on the outside seating as well as continual cleaning of all interior touch points. It has been lovely to see families visiting on the patio or going for walks with their loved ones. I do need to stress that you MUST maintain a 6-foot physical distance when walking, this virus has the nasty ability to be A symptomatic in people so you may feel just fine but still be a carrier. That is also the reason we do not want our residents going in cars or visiting houses or areas where there are people. If residents do not abide by these rules, then we are having to cautionary quarantine them for 14 days. With the help of staff and some great volunteers we are still maintaining our grocery shopping service on Wednesdays and Fridays. Currently, we have no symptoms of Covid or even a cold in either of our communities, but this is not the time to take the foot off the gas. We are continuing to screen all staff entering the buildings and our housekeepers and care staff are masking and gloving up. We have also been offering Skype or Facetime communication with residents and their loved ones. If you would like to set up a time to get together please email Kathleen fun@welcometopeninsula.ca. Thank you to those that have offered such kind words and encouragement as we navigate through this in a way that keeps our residents and staff safe and lives enriched.
